The hold points.
Every point is checked and photographed. The photos go into your portal.
- 01No trace of moisture on the walls and slab before insulating.
- 02Electrical, plumbing and ventilation inspected and photographed before the insulation.
- 03Vapour barrier sealed at every joint and around every box, before the drywall.
- 04An access panel planned for every valve and every fitting.
Permits and rules
Depending on the work (adding a bedroom, plumbing, structure), a permit may be required. A basement bedroom must have a window you can get out through in an emergency. We check with your municipality.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the work take?
2 to 3 weeks for most basements, once the materials have arrived.
My basement is damp. Can it be finished?
Not before the cause has been found and fixed. We do this assessment at the first visit.
Can we add a bedroom?
Yes, with a compliant egress window and enough ceiling height. We check this with you.
Can the ceiling be soundproofed?
Yes. It is often the weak link between the basement and the ground floor: decoupling clips, insulation and double drywall.
What if you find a problem once things are open?
We stop the work, show you what we found and price the fix at cost, with no margin, from the amount set aside with you for surprises. We resume once you say yes.
Let's talk about your project.
A visit, measurements, then a detailed budget. If the budget does not allow the work to be done properly, we will tell you at the first meeting.
